Success and Solitude

Success and Solitude seem
As two side of a coin
Success is an irony!
It brings you an illusory happiness
To veil your eyes
As it cunningly steals something real
From behind your back

For every success
There is a contest
For every winner
There are a dozen losers

The winner stands alone
Tasting glory
The losers stand below
Together and applaud

The applause, the fame
Doesn’t last forever
And when the world goes around again
Standing alone on a pedestal
Silent thoughts come and go…
Success goes to the head they say
And Solitude attacks the heart!

For every success
There are a dozen sacrifices
For every winner
There must be few behind
For whom winning is never an aim
For every winner
There must be few behind
For whom the reward was only compromise
For every sound of a clap
There is a stifled sob somewhere
For every winner going forward
There must be few left behind

Success is toughest
On those left behind.

I walk along the shores of time...
look back at the waves and smile
one tide at a time...
this too shall pass

in memory of
the last thought that skims past the eyes...
eyes fluttering
light to dark... dark to light...

with every flutter the mind hops
between bliss and longing
between interpretation and truth
between dreams and reality
between sleeping and staying awake..

the night comes by, yet again
the lights go off, yet again
and there with open arms sleep awaits...

Sleep

I asked for the Moon to brighten my days
but she hid behind the Sun.

I asked for the Sun to lighten my nights
but he headed East
